The Basics

What is Mines Casino Game?

Mines is a casino game played on a 5×5 grid of 25 tiles. Before each round, a set number of mines (your choice: 1 to 24) are hidden randomly across the grid. The remaining tiles contain gems — safe positions that increase your multiplier.

You click tiles one at a time. Each gem you reveal increases your multiplier and your potential payout. At any point you can cash out to lock in your winnings. But if you click a tile hiding a mine, the round ends instantly and you lose your entire bet.

The decision you make every time you click is the heart of the game: take the win now, or risk one more tile for a higher payout?

5×5 grid — 💎 gem (safe)  ·  💥 mine (bust)  ·  ■ hidden tile
💡
Mines vs Minesweeper: Classic Minesweeper gives you number clues about adjacent mines — it's a logic puzzle. Casino Mines has no numbers, no clues. Every tile is equally likely to hold a mine. No skill or pattern recognition can identify safe tiles. The visual is the same; the math is completely different.

Step by Step

How to Play Mines — One Round, Six Steps

1
Set your bet amount
Choose how many coins to wager for this round. The multiplier earned during the round will be applied to this bet. Bet 10 coins and cash out at 3×, you receive 30 coins.
2
Choose the number of mines (1–24)
This is your volatility dial. 1 mine = very safe each click, small multipliers. 24 mines = one safe tile on the entire grid, enormous multiplier if you find it. Most players use 3–5 mines for balanced play. The house edge remains ~1% regardless of mine count.
3
Press Bet — mines are placed randomly
When you start the round, the game places mines randomly using a cryptographic RNG before you click anything. You cannot influence or predict their positions. All 25 tiles look identical.
4
Click tiles one at a time
Each tile reveals either a gem (💎 safe — multiplier increases) or a mine (💥 bust — round ends, bet lost). You set the pace — take seconds or minutes per click. There is no time pressure.
5
Cash Out at any time
After every gem reveal, the Cash Out button shows your current payout. Press it to collect your winnings and end the round safely. You keep everything you've earned so far. The longer you wait, the higher the multiplier — and the higher the chance of hitting a mine.
6
If you hit a mine — round over
The round ends immediately. Your bet for this round is lost. The grid reveals where all mines were hidden. A new round can begin immediately with the same or different settings.
🤖
Auto-pick and Auto-cashout: Royal Mines offers an auto-pick feature (the game selects tiles randomly for you) and an auto-cashout target (cash out automatically when a set multiplier is reached). Auto-cashout at a fixed target — e.g. 2× — is the most consistent way to play without emotional "one more tile" decisions.

Choosing Your Setup

Mine Count Guide — What Changes and What Doesn't

The number of mines you choose is the single most important setting in Mines. It controls the probability of each click being safe, how fast the multiplier grows, and how long you can realistically stay in the round. The house edge (~1%) is identical across all mine counts — you're choosing volatility, not changing your expected return per bet.

1
mine
96% safe first click
24 safe tiles of 25
Tiny multiplier per gem. Very long sessions possible. Low excitement, steady play.
Ultra-safe
3
mines
88% safe first click
22 safe tiles of 25
Popular beginner setting. Good multiplier growth with manageable risk.
Recommended
5
mines
80% safe first click
20 safe tiles of 25
Balanced risk-reward. After 5 safe reveals, bust probability accumulates meaningfully.
Balanced
10
mines
60% safe first click
15 safe tiles of 25
Higher volatility. Multipliers grow fast. Most rounds end within 3–5 clicks.
High variance
20
mines
20% safe first click
5 safe tiles of 25
Only 5 gems on the entire grid. First click is 4× more likely to bust than succeed.
Extreme risk
24
mines
4% safe first click
1 safe tile of 25
One gem hidden among 24 mines. Find it and the multiplier is massive. 96% chance of instant bust.

The Math

Safe Tile Probability — The Numbers Behind Every Click

Every tile reveal in Mines is a conditional probability event. The formula for the probability of the next tile being safe — given N mines and s gems already revealed — is:

P(safe) = (25 − N − s) ÷ (25 − s)

This probability decreases with every safe reveal because each click removes one safe tile from the remaining pool. Your risk grows with every gem you collect — even if your first five clicks were all safe.

Safe tile probability table by mine count and click number
Mines 1st click 2nd click 3rd click 5th click Survive all gems
1 mine 96.0% 95.8% 95.7% 95.2% ~4% bust on all 24 gems
3 mines 88.0% 87.5% 87.0% 85.7% Cumulative 3-gem survive: ~67%
5 mines 80.0% 79.2% 78.3% 75.0% Cumulative 3-gem survive: ~50%
10 mines 60.0% 58.3% 56.5% 52.4% Cumulative 3-gem survive: ~19%
15 mines 40.0% 37.5% 34.8% 28.6% Cumulative 3-gem survive: ~5%
20 mines 20.0% 16.7% 13.0% Cumulative 3-gem survive: ~0.35%
24 mines 4.0% Only 1 gem exists
⚠️
Risk accumulates: With 5 mines, the first click is 80% safe. But the cumulative probability of surviving 5 consecutive safe reveals is roughly 80% × 79% × 78% × 77% × 75% = ~28%. Each click feels manageable alone, but the combined probability of a long streak with higher mine counts drops fast. This is the core tension in Mines — individual clicks feel safer than the session-level risk actually is.

Multiplier Growth Example — 3 Mines

As you reveal gems, the multiplier grows to reflect how unlikely your streak is. Here's how a 3-mine game progresses (99% RTP, approximate values):

Multipliers grow exponentially — each additional gem is rarer than the last.

Cashout Strategies

Mines Strategies — What Works, What Doesn't

No strategy changes the house edge. The expected return per bet is identical across all approaches. Strategies differ in session length, variance, and psychological experience.

✓ Recommended
Fixed Target Cashout
Decide your multiplier target (e.g. 2×) before clicking. Always cash out when you reach it — no exceptions.
The most disciplined approach. Removes "one more tile" temptation. Consistent session results. Works with any mine count.
✓ Recommended
1–3 Mines, 2–3 Gem Cashout
Use 1–3 mines. Cash out after 2 or 3 safe reveals every round.
Low variance. Win frequency is high (67–88% per round). Small consistent profits. Best for beginners or long sessions.
✓ Good
5 Mines, 3–5 Gem Cashout
Use 5 mines, target 3–5 gems then cash out. Balanced multipliers.
Win ~50% of rounds at this setting. Good multiplier growth (~1.5–3×) without excessive bust risk. Popular among experienced players.
⚠ Caution
High Mine Count (10+)
Use 10+ mines chasing large multipliers.
Same house edge, extreme variance. Expect many consecutive busts. Use very small bet sizes. Not suitable for building a bankroll.
⚠ Caution
Greed Mode ("One More Tile")
No preset target — keep clicking until you feel it's enough.
The most common source of session losses. Without a target, psychological bias pushes players to hold past their optimal exit point. Set a target before you start.
✕ Avoid
Tile Pattern / Corner Strategy
Always click corners, edges, or a fixed pattern believing those positions are safer.
Mines are placed uniformly at random. No position is statistically safer than any other. There are no patterns to exploit. This is a cognitive bias, not a strategy.
🚫
Mines "predictors" are scams. No app, Telegram bot, or website can identify safe tiles in Mines. Mine positions are determined by a cryptographic algorithm before you click anything. Anyone selling "Mines prediction tools" or "safe tile signals" is running a scam. Avoid entirely.

Context

House Edge & How It's Built In

The house edge in Mines is embedded in the multiplier formula. The mathematically fair multiplier for revealing s gems with N mines would reflect the exact probability of that streak. The actual payout is that fair value multiplied by the RTP factor (e.g. 0.99 for 99% RTP). The result: every multiplier is slightly below the true probability-adjusted fair value — that gap is the house's cut.

Royal Mines runs at approximately 99% RTP (1% house edge). The house edge is constant across all mine counts and all points in a round — revealing your 5th gem carries the same 1% edge as the 1st gem.
